Round table on “European Integration of Ukraine: Role of Youth” was held in Kiev

On the 12 of June 2008 in Kiev a round table on “European Integration of Ukraine: Role of Youth” was held. The aim of this round table was to elaborate specific ideas and ways that would help youth organizations in Ukraine to reinforce the process European integration in Ukraine. European Association of Ukrainians (Brussels) and Network of Young Publishers “A5” (Odesa-Kiev) were the organizers of the event. 

As distinct to a big amount of social events that are held in Kiev on daily bases, round table held on the 12th of June 2008 was not significant for prominent people from abroad and rich reception. Instead, the main priority declared by organizers was a quality of discussion during the round table and a high level of ideas.

During the round table we have succeeded to examine a question of responsibility asto youth policy of Ukraine facing eurointegrational challenges, a state of youth participation in international processes, problem of development of youth tourism in Ukraine, reformation of education in accordance to European standards. Significant amount of time was contributed to a discussion on the ways of youth participant in development of international cooperation in Ukraine.

The result of the round table is Resolution, which will be reported to government body and youth organization in Ukraine and EU.

Participants of the round table have decided to initiate some constructive projects. Namely, young activists have approved an idea of organizers of the round table to create an informational resource portal on several foreign languages that would contain information on Ukrainian youth organization, their activities and successes. Vivid discussion was held as to an idea of establishment in Ukraine international youth center of European standard. Based of the results of the round table an initiation was expressed on creation of a civil council on issues of European integration attached to a Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. An idea of elaboration of a Ukrainian policy directed to youth Ukrainians living at the European Union was recognized being important.

Participants of the round table were young active leaders, who actively work under reinforcement of international contacts of Ukraine, as well as representatives of academic circles who study youth and eurointegrational processes.

It is significant that the round table was organized in a wide partnership with 15 influential youth organizations of Ukraine, to whom we, Organizers, are very grateful.
